Are new puppy mill laws beginning to see results?

A story posted Friday on GantDaily.com reports an Oregon breeder surrendered 43 dogs to the Oregon Humane Society, in order to comply with the state’s new breeding regulations passed last year.

The new regulations place limits, as of January 1, on the number of breeding dogs (at 50) and sets standards for housing and cleaning of the cages.

Will this positive trend of compliance continue as we see new laws kick in and as more states – hopefully – pass new regulations?

In an example of a byproduct of the trend, recent reports indicate North Carolina is seeing puppy mill operations migrate into the state as adjacent states have enacted new regulations.
