Good news for horses – Tennessee horse slaughter bill withdrawn

The sponsor of a bill in the Tennessee legislature – that would have opened the state for horse-slaughter facilities – agreed Wednesday to pull the measure from consideration.

This is clearly a victory for horses and as a story posted on an Examiner.com site reports, one factor on the bill being pulled was a presentation to the General Assembly about the horse-slaughter industry. Also, the story notes a decline in the demand for horse meat. Let’s hope this trend continues as well.

Let’s also hope this news puts the brakes on any other similar bills that might crop up in other states.
