Susie’s Law gets a unanimous vote in the NC House

The North Carolina House voted 113-0 Wednesday for a bill known as Susie’s Law – which will increase the penalty for animal cruelty to a Level H felony.

If approved by the state Senate and signed by Governor Beverly Perdue,  judges will be allowed to hand out sentences up to eight months for first-time offenders.

It’s a great step and the 113-0 score is terrific result for the animals. Here’s hoping the NC Senate will be unanimous on this bill as well.

This is wonderful for North Carolina…but I heard they could also serve two years. Is that like county to county? Two years sounds better to me along with hefty fines to donate to the animal shelters. That is what Michael Vick got…two years?
