NC Puppy Mill Bill to be discussed in the state’s House Finance Committee

The North Carolina chapter of the Humane Society of the US is reporting the NC House Finance Committee will be discussing Senate Bill 460 Thursday morning (June 24) in Raleigh.

This Puppy Mill Bill is an important step in making life better for dogs now housed in puppy mill breeding facilities. The Humane Society is asking for help from the people of North Carolina, in calling their representatives to respectfully ask them to support this bill.

For those of you in NC, go to this LINK for the list.

The basics of this bill are reasonable, in setting standards for facilities that house more than 15 breeding females and 30 or more puppies.

I found information on the website of an organization that opposes the legislation – indicating the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association both support this bill. When I read this, my reaction was – wonderful, I’m glad this group is putting this information out for the visitors of the site to see, and way to go NCACC and NC Sheriffs’ Association.

For those of you on Facebook, you can follow updates on any new developments on the HSUS NC Facebook Group page.
