The North Carolina House Finance Committee will finally take up the topic of the bill to Regulate Commercial Dog Breeders. The meeting is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Thursday (July 1).
The meeting has been postponed on a couple of occasions and the overall NC House session only has about one week remaining. So this is a critical time for this bill. A similar bill already gained a positive vote in the NC Senate.
Again, this bill is pretty straightforward and does not cover the breeding of hunting dogs, show dogs or working dogs. The guidelines in the bill are not strict – and good, quality breeders go beyond the regulations and would therefore not be adversely affected by the passage of the bill.
