Alleged Missouri puppy mill won’t let the cameras in

This video represents a solid piece of investigative work by Fox2Now out of St. Louis, Mo. But the end results of the report are disgusting and represent all that is wrong with our lax laws and enforcement against sub-par breeders.

And the penalties for infractions are softer than a melted marshmallow.

Fox2N0w reports the breeder in this case was cited with repeated offenses by the USDA, but still remains in operation. The simple question is why?

Where people or animals are abused, there should be no such thing as a “repeat offender.” At minimum, if you’re found guilty of operating a business were animals are abused – and you are found again abusing animals, that should be the end of the story.

But this is THE example of what has been going on for far too long. It’s time to shut puppy mills down. These breeders shouldn’t get a second, third or fourth chance.

  1. My brother-in-law was raised in Missouri and spends about half of the year there ( the other half here in CA ). On this last trip a woman “gave” him a chocolate lab “papered” puppy after she was returned by the people who initially bought her. I don’t know why she was returned.

I just found out from my sister that the woman who gave him the pup has 3 females and 1 male that she breeds. These are not AKC registered dogs and the health of the pup, Rosie, is not the best. However, she has a great temperament and loves her new home and sister, Jessie, a yellow lab about 2 years old.

I am not sure what to do with the name and address of this person. I am just sad that she is exploiting these animals. As far as I know they could be well taken care of.
