JoJo’s latest check-up is a good one

Some of you – especially those familiar with my other blog, Cape Fear Critters – might recall the battle against cancer our greyhound JoJo is facing.

Several months ago, she had surgery to remove a tumor – an osteosarcoma – from her jaw. A portion of her jaw was removed and she underwent rounds of chemo and radiation.

JoJo went for another checkup today at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Cary, NC. Everything checked out great for her, including an inspection of new radiographs. The odds are strong that the cancer will return at some point, but we’re hoping that day comes later rather than sooner.

For now – she’s eating great, playful and doing really well for a refined girl of 11 years.

    Deanne,
Thank you. We are familiar with Dr. Couto’s work, in particular noting the high rate of osteosarcoma in racing greyhounds.

So glad to hear that JoJo is doing well. It’s such a scary thing to go through and I sincerely hope she enjoys continued good health for years to come!

Having gone through osteo with my first greyhound a couple of years ago, I am currently awaiting biopsy results on my 12-1/2 year old Sweetie Pie, after the removal of a mass on her spleen this past Friday. Cancer sucks. That said, the best that we can do is try and protect them from any undue suffering (they did enough of that while in the racing industry). And of course we can love them and cherish each and every moment we have with them. I wish you all the best.
