Video – Betty White for shelter pets and the Pedigree Foundation

Betty White – a long-time advocate for homeless pets – has a new video out for the Pedigree Foundation.

Also, a writer named Pamela Black has a column on Change.org, noting White is teaming with Pedigree Foundation for the PSA video. And in reading the piece, it seems she has similar thoughts about the AKC as I do.

Black notes that among the less-than-quality breeders, particular physical characteristics are gained by inbreeding.

QUOTE – “” But genetics doesn’t operate in a vacuum. When a dog is bred for a curlier tail or longer legs, other traits can become amplified. This includes illness or deformities, risks that breeders know about and willingly take. After all, these dogs can be sold at a discount or euthanized without harming the pedigree lines. “”

And she rightfully explains that the “”AKC certifies puppies born by the thousands in puppy mills and sold at pet stores nationwide.””

Absolutely right and the AKC won’t push back against these practices and often fights against new anti-puppy mill bills and regulations. I know at one time the AKC was teaming with Petland. That pretty much says it all about the AKC.

  1. I just love Betty White. I’m also a pet lover. I’m not too happy with the AKC and the puppy mill situation. It’s so sad when puppies are seen as “product” to make profit off of instead of the loving live beings that they are. It’s sad how money can create horrible situations. We’ve all got to take a stand on the puppy mill business and spread awareness. Thanks for sharing that wonderful video!

Thank you for dropping by and offering your thoughts.
I’m going to keep hitting this puppy mill topic often, until we’ve shut them all down.

We love Betty White! She does so much for the furbabies! We must become a NO KILL NATION and abolish puppy mills. Also, if prisoners who have killed cannot be gassed or stuck in the heart with a needle, WHY is it okay to murder a pet in a shelter in this barbaric manner?
